老外看中國:中國十大醜建築 - Top Ten Hideous Buildings in China (in Foreigners' Eyes)

A hilarious video clip reflects the difference of aesthetics and sense of humor between Chinese and westerners. I personally like the #10 building called 瀋陽方圓大廈 shěn yáng fāng yuán dà xìa. Obviously, the shape of the building is inspired by the shape of the ancient Chinese coin. The architect of this building, 李祖原 lǐ zǔ yuán, is also the one who designed 台北101 tá běi yē líng yē (Taipei 101), formerly known as the Taipei World Financial Center, is a landmark skyscraper located in Taipei, Taiwan

As a Taiwanese, I'm proudly claiming that Taipei 101 was awarded LEED Platinum certification, the highest award in the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design rating system and became the tallest and largest green building in the world. :)

However, Li's design in China such as 瀋陽方圓大廈 shěn yáng fāng yuán dà xìa is obviously not particularly favored by quite a few westerns. Well, hope Li doesn't get too frustrated by this "special honor".

As for #2 北京天子大酒店 běi jīng tīan zǐ dà jǐu diàn (a hotel in Beijing) and #1人民日報大樓 rén mín rì bào dà lóu (a newspaper office building), I personally think they both are hurting my eyes and damaging my brain cells. I can't imagine myself check in and stay a night in any of the three gods's belly, nor work in a building looks like "Disneyland" (quoted from a cute little girl in the American talk show). Love the responses from those toddlers! haha!
